Helicopter tourism in Udupi district inaugurated

For the first time in Karnataka state the Helicopter tourism was inaugurated in Udupi. This facility is expected to boost the tourism in Udupi district. Delhi origin Chipsan Aviation in coordination with Udupi district administration has begun this facility in Udupi.
Speaking on the occasion Udupi district deputy commissioner Dr. Vishal R. said that in order to develop tourism in coastal area and Western Ghats, for business tours of foreign and outer state students and for the jolly ride of the tourists this Helicopter tourism has been arranged.

There have been 4 – 5 applications every month for granting permission for the landing of helicopters in Kolllur Mookambika temple, Udupi Krishna mutt and Manipal. With such demand in the district there is good scope for helicopter tourism, said DC.

Chipsan Aviation has already obtained permission for landing at Bengaluru and Mangaluru airports. It has already conducted tours at Hampi, Bellary, and Vijaypur utsavs. Currently it has stationed a small 6 seater helicopter at Adi Udupi grounds. As the demand increases it has plans to station bigger helicopter said company managing director Sunil Narayanan.
Chipsan aviation has been successfully operating heli tourism in Kerala and flies about 80 hours there every month. Through helicopter we encourage heritage tourism, adventure tourism and health tourism including flying for medical emergency and for organ transporting.

In this 6 seater helicopter the charges would be about Rs 87,000 per hour. For 10 minutes jolly ride in the sky in and around Udupi each passenger will have to pay Rs 3,000.

Through this helicopter from Udupi one can reach Bengaluru in 1 hour 30 minutes, Mangaluru in 20 minutes, Kollur in 15 minutes and Murdeshwara in 30 minutes.
